Storm's Bingo Night for WaterAid Canada Raises $4200

Overwhelmed, grateful, thankful, speechless, humbled – just a few adjectives that come to mind in describing the success of our Bingo Night in support of Aveda’s Earth Month initiatives and WaterAid Canada. On April 15th our amazing clients gathered at the Grantham Lion’s Club in St. Catharines to help us raise money for this incredibly worthy cause.  WaterAid Canada is a leading NGO that helps to provide clean water solutions, sanitation and hygiene education in Africa – with this year’s focus on the country of Madagascar, a country which sources several of the incredible ingredients that make Aveda products so spectacular. Lack of sanitation and clean drinking water is the leading cause of death for children under five, and women, in particular, suffer from the lack of readily available water as many of them walk up to 3 kilometres a day to obtain water for their families. Because of the time involved in undertaking this chore, women and girls are often unable to take advantage of the educational opportunities that are so crucial to breaking the cycle of poverty.

It is for all of these reasons that we are so proud to help Aveda’s Earth Month fundraising initiatives, and we are so pleased to announce that we were able to raise $4200!! It takes just $25 to provide clean water to one person for life in Madagascar, so because of your help we have given 168 people a chance to break out of poverty and enjoy a happy and healthy life with their family. This night was so successful that we are planning on making it an annual event!
