New Product Alert! Introducing Aveda's Pramasana Scalp Care System
/Beautiful hair starts at the scalp, and caring for the delicate skin on your scalp is the key to growing strong and healthy hair. Introducing Pramasana by Aveda – the most comprehensive scalp care system Aveda has ever launched. Pramasana is suitable for all hair types, and safe for those with colour treated hair or hair extensions. This incredible new system is ideal for those who find it a challenge to balance oil levels on their scalp, or those who struggle with dry or itchy scalp. The scalp concentrate is also a great option for those of you who stretch your no-wash days as long as you can, or who frequent the gym.
Pramasana features a fresh and clean aroma of grapefruit, neroli and cypress and is formulated with an exclusive blend of ingredients that helps to balance, strengthen, and protect the scalp, including:
- Seaweed extract that helps balance and control sebum levels
- Lactobacillus that helps preserve the scalp's protective barrier
- Tamanu oil, and antioxidant which helps soothe the scalp and protect it from pollution and other free radicals
One of the greatest things about the Pramasana scalp care system? Options. You can choose to have an intensive scalp service in the salon with each haircut, or you can take home the three-step system and add it to your daily hair styling routine for even greater benefit. The in-salon Pramasana treatment is a 30 minute treatment that will thoroughly cleanse and revitalise your scalp. It’s best used when added with an Aveda Botanical Hair Treatment ($45), or you can book the service on it’s own ($30).*
At home, the Pramasana system is a three step ritual, outlined below:
Step One – Exfoliating Scalp Brush
The brush has flexible, looped nylon bristles that help to loosen impurities and buildup. The bristles are specially designed to help provide a cushion and allow for a gentle scalp massage without creating any tangles. Dry brushing is the key to the cleansing process because it increases microcirculation which leads to healthy hair growth. (Note that this brush is not intended for use as a styling tool, the bristles are designed for the specific use as a dry brush and scalp massager. Keep using your Aveda paddle brush to style!)
Step Two – Scalp Purifying Cleanser
This cleanser helps to cleanse and purify the scalp by removing pollutants and balancing sebum levels. Apply on wet or dry hair, massage well into your scalp, and follow with your favourite Aveda shampoo.
Step Three – Protective Scalp Concentrate
This concentrate penetrates the scalp surface to balance sebum levels, preserve the scalp’s natural barrier, protect from environmental aggressions, and maintains the purity of the scalp at the root of the hair. To use: Towel dry freshly shampooed and conditioned hair, and part your hair from front to back, using the dropper to apply the concentrate along the part. Continue the same steps as you part your hair in five sections, or enough to cover your whole head, and massage in to your scalp. This is a leave-in treatment that will protect your scalp until your next wash, so from here you can continue with your favourite Aveda styling products and blow dry as normal.
It’s no secret: the foundation for beautiful hair is a healthy scalp, and a healthy scalp is a clean scalp. Scalp care goes beyond simple cleansing; it involves balancing sebum levels, preserving the scalp’s natural protective barrier and helping protect it from pollution and other free radicals. Aveda’s newest product does all of these things and more! Can you tell why we’re so excited to have it on our shelves now? Ask your stylist or colourist about Pramasana during your next visit.
